Http Header Link Paging¶
Header Link paging handles services that put the link to the next page of data in the HTTP headers of the response rather than in its body. RFC 5988 (since revised as RFC 8288) defines the scheme. Shopify and GitHub are among the services that use it.
Each response carries a Link header holding one or more URLs in angle brackets, each followed by a rel value saying what the URL is. The next page is the one whose rel is next.
A header can carry several links separated by commas, such as prev, first and last alongside next. IMan reads only next and ignores the rest. The rel value can be quoted or unquoted, in upper or lower case.
IMan requests the next URL exactly as the header gives it, so the URL must be absolute. Paging stops when a response has no Link header, or the header has no next link.
Header Link paging has no settings. Choosing it hides the paging fields. The end-of-results status code does not apply.
