IMan Data Concepts¶
These pages explain the key concepts you need to transform data in IMan.
Anatomy of an Http Request¶
The parts of an HTTP request and response. You need this to use the webservices functionality or the WebAPI module.
Application Connectivity¶
How IMan uses an application's API to access it.
Audit Report, Auditing, and Log Keys¶
The auditing log records the results of each transform, such as success or errors. IMan emails an Audit Report, with a summary you design, to the Email Groups of each report group.
The Log Keys define the fields that identify a record in the Summary if an error occurs, so you can find the problem.
Data Processing Pattern¶
IMan processes data in a specific order. The order affects parent or child records that depend on other transactions.
Destination Defined Data Structure¶
Some applications can receive data correctly only if it is in a certain structure.
Check the structure the destination expects before you export to an application.
Expando Fields¶
An expando field is a VBScript statement that references a field in a dataset, for example the item codes in an 'Orders' dataset. When expanded, it lists each record's value.
In the Audit Log, you can use Expando Fields to show details of specific transform results.
Field Types¶
Whether it is text, decimal or Boolean, the field type assigned to data tells IMan how to treat it.
Correct Field Types avoid wrong results.
Formula Evaluation¶
IMan uses formulae in several places, to create field names and evaluate values.
These formulae are written using VBScript syntax.
Hierarchical Data¶
Hierarchical data is made up of repeating parent and child transactions. IMan can read, create and flatten this structure.
IMan Integration¶
The process of importing, transforming/manipulating, and writing or exporting data.
Because IMan is flexible, integrations vary greatly in type and complexity.
Transform Execution & Data Flow¶
Transforms run in a specific sequence. The output of each transform becomes the input of the next, so data 'flows' from one transform to the next.
Wildcards¶
A wildcard is a character used to refer to one or more undefined characters in a search.
