Sage 300 printing order confirmations (8 replies)
Sue, have you tried the following?
- Export the report to PDF? Unmap the Print & Printer fields, set the Export File Path to somewhere local. e.g. "C:\Temp\ORDCONF.PDF"
- Is this happening on all orders, including unprinted ones?
- Can you print to any other local printer? (The printer must be local).
Thanks
1. The export worked
2. I've tried multiple orders - both printed and unprinted ones - no luck.
3. I created a local printer to the LPT1 port - I was able to print from notepad to that printer just fine. But Iman still wouldn't print to the printer.
Can you please look at my screen shot and let me know what i"m missing? Or can you give me more information on how the print option works? maybe it will help me figure it out... Thanks!
Sue, sorry for the delayed reply.
If the export works, IMan is working (or thereabouts), so I assume there must be something wrong with the printer name.
Is the printer in IMan EXACTLY the same as the printer name on the local computer? Perhaps send a screenshot of the printer setup.
Also, you could try restarting first:
- IMan Services
- Server - This is sometimes required as the local printers are not always available to a service account.
Thanks
Can we schedule a meeting and do some testing on this when you get back? I've tried the reboot, I've verified that everything has rights, verified that the Sage 300 order conf prints from that server as the Iman user just fine... I've run out of things to test and Iman isn't giving me any error messages. Thanks...
Sue, sure, I will setup a GotoMeeting.
Could we schedule it for tomorrow Tues 3/23 at 10 am CDT? If not, could we schedule it for next Mon or Tues at 10 am CDT? (or please let me know what you have available in your schedule.) Thanks!
James, thanks for your help in testing! I learned a number of valuable lessons on this one:
1. The printer must be a local printer wherever Iman is installed. You can use a virtual printer software like Printboss but in the case of printboss specifically, the software needs to be open and waiting to receive the file. Also, the printer name that you enter in your Iman job should be EXACT - case specific. So, "PrintBoss50" rather than "printboss50" if that's how it is named in the Windows printers/devices.
2. Export to pdf is an excellent way to verify that your form is printing correctly - but don't just check to see that the pdf was created. You need to actually open it and view it and verify that there is data in the pdf.
3. Iman can see Sage 300 *.rpt files that are saved in the customization directory - so you don't have to save your custom form rpt file to the Iman server...
4. Most importantly - Including Order Confirmations Already Printed has to be set to 1 rather than True - if you want to print previously printed order confs to actually print. =)
I am having an issue printing order confirmations with Iman. I thought I had this working last week when I tested it - but today, i can't get it to work at all.
I created a simple job that: 1) queries the order header table in Sage 300 and grabs a few fields from a specific order 2)Mapped some fields including the form name, printer etc. 3) Print the Sage 300 Order Confirmation. Please see the screen shot - which will show you the form name, printer, etc and how I mapped it. I am trying to print to the Printboss 50 printer - this is a piece of software that looks like a local printer on the SQL server and it uses the NUL: port.
Here's what I've verified: printboss is working properly - I can print from notepad to that printer and it works fine. The form name seems correct - I purposely put in a bad form name and Iman barked at me - it doesn't bark with the correct name in there. The form works fine in Sage 300 against this order - so nothing is wrong with the order. I've included already printed order confirmations and told it to actually print.
For the life of me, I can't figure out what I'm missing. Help? Thanks
