Temp *.rpt files being created under c:\windows\temp (6 replies)
Sue, IMan isn't specifically creating these files.
However, it's pretty clear the Crystal Runtime is creating these files whenever it needs to print or export.
We've tested inhouse and I cannot see these being created anywhere.
Is this one of your Print Boss customers?
We are no longer using printboss with Iman. Printboss couldn't "catch" consistently, so we got rid of that a while back. Here is what I've discovered based on looking at just the *.rpt files that were created today in the c:\windows\temp.
* Every job that emails a Sage 300 form as a pdf attachment created a *.rpt file for each transaction. (order confirmations & invoices)
* the iman job that prints to a variety of printers based on a conditional formula -- 42 of 56 orders printed had *.rpt files. So, 15 orders did not create the *.rpt file -- I have exactly 15 orders that went to one specific printer. I'll continue to look at this.
* I have another client who is on the same version of Iman (v3), same version of sage 300 (2012), but they only print invoices to one printer (no emails) -- they have a grand total of 6 *.rpt files in the c:\windows\temp for the last year.
so it could be email related, it could be somehow related to the "weird" way that the printers are set up at Core but there is nothing special about that printer. Unfortunately, the client wants me to just create a scheduled event to delete the files on a regular basis. So I guess you can close this issue unless you want to do more research on your end. thanks!
Sue, I haven't used Crystal for years, but there was some setting which was 'Create Copy When Printing' or something along those lines.
Could it be that?
Hi Sue, I have encountered these temp files on a site where there are large batches of emailed invoices so I think this is a "feature" of crystal reports emailing and unrelated to IMan. IT gets annoyed because it makes the profile so large.

My iman virtual at one client is running out of space. We put a sniffer software on there and found that there are temp files being created in c:\windows\temp. The name of the file starts with the crystal report form we are using in one of our print jobs: for example, a bunch start with OECONF02. And then the file name has a unique long code in {} brackets and then ends in .rpt
So one file name is OECONF02 {00A67A2-7271-4395-9489-A10862BCE386}.rpt
I can set up a task scheduler event to start deleting these after a certain number of days, but I was wondering... Did you know that Iman is creating these? Does this make sense to you? Have I done something stupid to cause this? =)
If a pdf is created to email in a job, I have those going to a subfolder under C:\Iman\Exports. If the form is printed, I create a csv log of what's printed in a subfolder of C:\Iman\Exports. So as far as I know, I haven't intentionally told it to somehow create these *.rpt files in c:\windows\temp.
At present, the files are taking up 100GB of space. So, this might be something you want to at least document for people using the Sage 300 print functionality. (See attachment for screenshot of files.)
