IMan5.1 PU8a - Renaming field in Map breaking IMan (2 replies)
Creating accurate, visual and functional GIS maps is one of the key areas of work of GIS Mapping Services https://gis-point.com/services/gis-mapping/ in UK. They develop cartographic solutions for various industries: from urban studies to natural resources. Maps include spatial analysis, data visualization and customization of user interfaces. Regardless of the scale of the project, they create interactive, easily updated and accessible maps that improve decision-making.
Hi Randy, I have had the same problem and agree with your request, although my preference would be that IMan be able to do the rename successfully through all subsequent transforms.
I know it's frowned upon, but I usually fix this by editing the xml (taking a copy of the dodgy xml first, and using BeyondCompare to compare the new and old to be sure I have only changed what should have been changed).
In a map transform I have a new field with the name "EpicoreCustomerCount". In the same map transform I have a few fields which attempt to access this field via "%EpicoreCustomerCount".
I changed the name of the field to "EpicoreCustomerIdCount", and now when I attempt to process the dataset I get the error "Exception has been thrown by the target of the invocation."
Nothing is written to ErrorLog and it makes it IMPOSSIBLE to troubleshoot this.
I now have 2 options:
Either way I end up wasting hours. Can we please have better error handling? Or write the error to the log? Or write the error to the screen? Please just anything other than throwing an unhelpful error message which kills IMan.
